On the 4th July in Parliament, I asked the PM to state his position on transfering his powers on appointing the MACC chief to Parliament. Minister in the PM Department, VK Liew gave a vague answer.
So on my follow up question, I pressed the issue again and also asked about the issue regarding Prime Minister’s Question Time. His second reply was better, where he said that a process has started and that he has had meetings with the Speaker and YB William Leong to consider amending the MACC Act to transfer the PM powers to Parliament. On PMQ, he also stated that the PM has personally agreed and hopefully PMQ can be implemented for the October session.
This has been a good day for reforms, now we have to monitor and make sure the minister make good his replies.
