Today my office, accompanied by YB Hannah Yeoh‘s interns went to Desa Mentari to conduct a socio-economic survey of one of its blocks. The purpose of this survey is to gather valuable demographics of Desa Mentari. For 2015, this will be our focal point of our efforts to simply make the lives of its residents better.
This also served as an opportunity for Hannah’s newest batch of interns to experience and engage with an area such as Desa Mentari, a typical inner-city housing development plagued by all sorts of problems spawned by poverty and crime.
I was informed that the interns performed admirably as they exhibited genuine curiosity and compassion for the realities faced by the urban poor. This cooperative effort between our offices also further showcases the bond that we’ve forged across the years and that despite the recent political climate, the bond between our offices is stronger than ever.
